Welcome to the Old Route 66 Association of Texas On-line Driving Guide.

Here, you'll find the information you need to retrace the old road through our great state!

Route 66 once stretched for some 178 miles across the Texas Panhandle. Today, approximately 150 miles of old roadbed survive. As you traverse these magical miles, think of those who made the same journey in decades past—many times in broken-down cars and trucks—hoping for a better life somewhere down the highway. Feel the hot Texas winds. Observe the vastness of the land that some said was "as big as the ocean." Stop in at the small-town cafes and listen to the stories of old-timers.

To begin, select the EAST, CENTRAL or WEST section on the above Texas 66 map. Or choose a particular town to head directly to its description. All of our maps are interactive, so how you travel is up to you. To assist you in planning your Texas trip, we've included corresponding exit numbers from Interstate 40 in our town capsules—as well as turn-by-turn directions down good ol' 66!

However you travel, you'll discover that EVERY trip down Texas Route 66 is a unique adventure. We hope yours will be filled with smiles and the stuff of memories.
